10 Juicy Self-Love Commandments — Your Time Is Now

It’s time to savor the strawberries.

To truly live is to be willing to be reborn a thousand times in one lifetime. The longing to feel safe and comfortable often ends up keeping us caged and dims the experience of life.

This type of life is absolutely fine — if you really want it.

But do you, really, really want to slow the pace of your adventurous heart for a life only half-lived?

Let’s say you long to taste more and to feel more, to find truth. Your belly rumbles to discover the galaxies within it, to birth the unborn parts of you. But you’re so confused — so be it! Pant into the ecstasy of such a manic state as it reckons the coming forth of transformation!

So go, run from one mountain top to another until you’re exhausted and panting! Gulp the air and absorb the oceans if you must! Eventually you will find yourself looking up at the stars, and you will discover the language of the Outer Limits. The Universe of Peace within you. And you will know what to do.

And you will rest.

And when it calls again — you will unabashedly venture. Go!

Our greatest aliveness is buried deep in our most insurmountable challenges. To strive for more aliveness, we must challenge ourselves. We must have the heart and stomach to step onto the path unknown.

To be a warrior on the outside, we must first become that warrior on the inside. This takes training, practice, consistency, gentleness…and an awareness to what we put into it, how it feels and if it is honest in that it truly nourishes our purpose from within.

Imagine the BEST version of you right now. Do you think you could get there eating junkfood? Probably not. Your self-worth, your self-acceptance and your self-perception is reflected in how you choose to nourish your mind, body and heart… with food.

One of the yummiest way to cleanse our slate, clear our eyes and re-ignite the flame within, is to integrate the beautiful guts of fruits, vegetables and herbs into our bodies.

It’s that simple. All you have to do is DO and feel. Rinse and repeat.

Here’s to drinking Nature’s blood and all her wisdom so that we become one!

This may be an unexpected twist to juicing, but enjoy it deeply and may this be a practice of creative nourishment for us all.

“We do not experience things as they really are! We experience things only through a filter and that filter determines what information will enter our awareness and what will be rejected. If we change the filter (our belief system), then we automatically experience the world in a completely different way.”

― David Wolfe

Are you a creature of supreme habit? You know what you like and you like what you know. Well, if you always do what you always do, then you’ll always get what you’ve always got. At least that’s what Grandmas around the world are saying. Juicing calls for an interruption of our daily routine and a delicious invitation to try something new! And for the record, ONE time does NOT count.

Some call intuition the sixth sense. Others refer to it as a gut feeling based on the sum of one’s accumulated experience. What do I call it? Your super-power know-how from the language of the Outer Limits. Don’t doubt your ability to serve up juice concoctions that nourish your mind, body and life purpose. Juicing feeds all parts of you Nature’s wisdom and it is that wisdom that will make you (and I and us) feel more connected and alive. Follow the inner signs and juice at will.

Open yourself not only to trial and experimentation but stepping both feet into your own shoes. The process of becoming intuitively healthy doesn’t happen over night. You have to first become that healthy person on the inside. This takes time and consistency. Juice unabashedly and let it stretch, grow and evolve all parts of you. And it will. Warning: long periods of juicing may result in loving, creative, bold, authentic and courageous action!

“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”

― Audre Lorde

Feeding our bodies junk food is a fall from grace worthy of our utmost forgiveness. If you actively and intuitively listen to the messages of your body, you already know that nothing within you can truly be fulfilled, nurtured, healed or transformed by unhealthy food choices. Again, imagine right now the person you want to be, the person you already are, but can’t seem to reveal her/him—do you think you could get there eating garbage? Most likely not. Replace the junk with You-affirming juice.

Creating a loving attitude toward everyone and everything is at the heart of inclusive, world-changing action. Love does not think it feels and it is that feeling that is at the center of positive, momentous change. A loving and open heart does not divide or pull us farther a part, it unites us as we already are. It’s a recognizing that at the base of the human spirit exists peace, truth, love and harmony. And offering our heart space to all life forms is a sweet surrender to the ebb and flow of Life and an important dance with Nature. So go ahead, serve up an all-inclusive Mason jar of Love In-Love Out.

Don’t wait until you reach an age, at which society deems it acceptable to be ugly, smelly, wrinkly and tired. Love yourself now, like you mean it — and all parts of you. Love yourself intensely without distraction. Love yourself kindly and ever so sweetly. Talk, feel and feed yourself as if you are the love of your life. Because you are. And let your love birth its own pulse and resilience. Let it own you. Let it protect and nurture you. Love yourself now. Do not wait until the end of your days. Love yourself as you chop up your fruits and vegetables. Love yourself as you juice.

“When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that it’s bottomless, that it doesn’t have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth and gentleness is there, as well as how much space.”

—Pema Chödrön

Beauty is not something that you buy, rent or get. It is something you unleash from the inside out. Beauty is an internal creation and its strength is a result of your intuitive refinements. If you want to be beautiful, you must recognize the beauty that already resides within you, and allow it to grow. Let it be untainted by the sharp edges of others and other frozen regimes. How can you unleash beauty? Juice for it. Juice for beauty and discover how nutrition plays a role in guiding you on your most precious path of beauty.

It’s nearly impossible to negate self-doubt by force-feeding yourself positive affirmations. You must go deeper. Somewhere at the core of your self-doubt lies other strong emotions — anger, sadness, loneliness, pain. Instead of trying to berate or fight the voice of doubt or beat it out of yourself, try listening closer and more intimately. You may just find that it’s a plea to give proper attention and love to this aspect of you. The key to opening it all up is gentle understanding and a self-knowingness. With each sip of juice, give yourself a chance. Relax into the actions you want to take without grand expectations. Give yourself the best chance possible by being supportive of who you are and the effort you make.

Your delectable body was made to feel, so acknowledge the full presence of it, every single chance you get. The advantages of diving in and feeling the vessel you outweigh any perceived disadvantages. You already know this. So relax, juice in hand, and feel the before, during and after effects of awesome action. Feel intimately, clearly and as unabashedly as possible. At the end of your days your vessel will have been nothing but a small sacrifice for mankind. And the Earth will sigh.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things.”

— Jack Kerouac
