Venus Retrograde: Release What No Longer Aligns With Your Purpose.

 

On July 24th, Venus, the planet of beauty, love, affection, finances and romance, will be going retrograde until September 7.

Retrograde periods bring us to a place of deep cosmic Q&A about many aspects of our world that are highlighted by the specific planet going retrograde. Retrogrades are an illusion in the skies that make it look like it’s going backwards, and they can pack a real punch, especially on the internal.

These periods are a beneficial time of sifting deep in our shadows to bring us to deeper truths and, in this case, the areas that are highlighted by Venus, leading us to ask some very big questions about our relationships and our work in this world.

The new realizations that we come to during a retro period can lead us to explore new possibilities and think of solutions in a whole new way. Retrogrades make a great time to think outside the box.

The Goddess Venus rules our social nature, finances, our attraction to the external (people, place or thing), what draws us in terms of affections, and how we go about seeking happiness in our world. We can see the places it will affect us most by where it shows up in our birth charts.

Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so where you have these signs in your charts could be some areas that you see the heaviest influences during this time.

Venus retrograde brings to our attention many of the things that pull at our hearts and souls. She asks that we tap into what is rising for us here consciously and allow what is here to be felt. She knows that what we bury only persists, growing into something we need to deal with down the line.

While this period is ongoing, she wants us to look at the work we need to do on a deep level.

What will this affect?

Relationships.

The Number One area that this retrograde period is going to affect is relationships.

Venus will be asking us some important questions about what it is we are expecting and wanting in a partner, bringing a lantern to our idealistic views of love. Venus is asking us if we are in the right partnership with ourselves first before setting our sights externally.

When we embrace the truth of who and what we are and put it out there into the Universe, what we are most in alignment with comes to our door, including our mate best suited. This period can bring new people into our experience, and if you bring your authenticity forward during this time, they will be drawn to your truth and not a mask.

Relationship issues can pop up from out of nowhere, bringing up our own reservations, judgment, hidden desires, what we are putting up with or what external factors are problematic. Areas where we see laziness or no effort made in partnerships become impossible to ignore.

This is a time of asking what we will and won’t put up with in the matter of our hearts. Venus is asking that we act wisely and be conscious about our decisions and be present with our hearts. Being honest and present with these desires isn’t here to be a bad thing, it is showing what needs to be seen and expressed.

This is a time of asking if the love you are receiving is in alignment with your needs. This is a time of really connecting with your heart on what it is wanting and what you are blocking in terms of those desires.

Venus wants us to look at what gives us pleasure, what fires our passions and how we express our sensuality and what we are doing to block these from being brought into the world.

The Goddess Venus wants us to ask ourselves: What do harmonious relationships look like to us? What is important to you in these areas? What blocks/resistance in our lives are opposing these? What is worth your time and energy? What drama and stress are no longer serving your life? Look at the root causes of discord and what is messing with the harmony and dulling the passion in your life.

Venus is normally a very social Goddess, but the retrograde can bring about the need for some downtime in a peaceful and sacred space. The Goddess of Love is best known for her outward affections. During the retrograde, take the time to shine that light inward towards self-love.

Take the extra time you need during this period to be able to retain your own sense of harmony.

She wants us to look at the negative ways we hold ourselves to the unrealistic standard of beauty that plagues us in society. This is a time of looking to dissolve the myths that we create from the advertising and marketing we see all around us, and to move instead from an authentic place of acceptance and love.

Spending time in nature and wild spaces can also soothe our energy, and provide a much needed re-charge if our spirits are waning.

Venus also highlights the arts and creative juices which can be flowing during this time. She moves us to satisfy our own hearts in what we are creating and to not focus externally on what we think others may approve of.

Your creative boundaries, expression of beauty, comfort zones and how you express yourself can be called into question by your own search for communicating truth. She will be holding a light to the areas in which we feel discord.

Venus rules love as well as finances, which will be under the microscope. We can come to a place of looking deeper into our connection with the material world, re-working and re-thinking some of the ways that we have approached our financial harmony in the past.

This can give birth to new avenues and plans that can unfold to benefit us greatly in the future on our unfolding path of truth.

With the Blue Moon (second full moon in a calendar month) occurring on July 31 during the beginning of this retrograde, this can be a powerful time to do some illumination work under the light of the full moon and release what is no longer in alignment with your purpose and path.

This is a place of looking into where your passions are truly wanting to lead you, and if your heart and spirit are in alignment with it.

This whole year has especially been a deep dive into truth, and this is no exception. Venus wants to know: What lies within you after everything else is stripped away? What lies buried at the core of these partnerships? What are the feelings, the issues, the painful raw exposed nerves, the passions?

The Goddess of Love is fired up and she will drag it all into the light.

This can be a very revealing time, as retrogrades generally are, as we move into what can be considered shadows or the hidden realms. This can bring a lot to light. Retrograde energy is usually something that hits hardest and is most workable, internally bringing about change on a self level that then propels change in the external world.

In retrograde periods, we come face to face with some very blunt truths, and what we do with them afterwards is up to us. That is the true gift of Venus retrograde — bringing into focus for us the issues that are leading to our unbalance in love, desire and finance.

She wants us to lead a life flourishing with the abundance of all that we desire, but first we need to clear the weeds away and plant the right seeds.
