Crooked smile. {poetry}
By Jessica Bundy.
I am terrible
with my heart.
If you asked me to wait
a thousand years,
I would ask,
“When should I start?”
Oh, but there would be such magic
in the years rolling out;
little hills of solitude.
I could leap from one to the next,
each day forward,
joyfully content,
knowing somewhere you
were also waiting.
How does the heart
pound out such thoughts
in the midst of all
we have forgotten?
How do you still stand tall,
my tree, while I make love
to the wind,
and blow away so easily?
With the absolute clarity of mist,
I watch you stumble,
I watch you live,
from some place above the moon;
the crooked smile of love
to get you through.
