Population Zero.
By Amanda Bosch.
Moving up and moving out.
Not a dime to my name.
Owning nothing but the flicker in my soul.
Spirit pushes that wild wind through me.
The embers pulse, smoke plumes climb sky high.
Pushing forward.
Barefoot I wander,
over the shards
of a desolate life.
Indifferent to their barren promises,
no longer allowing myself to bleed.
Rambling away
from all misappropriations of love,
forgetting the empty souls
that dance past me.
Leaving a simple warning:
You’ll remember my name!
It will be heavy on your heart,
but won’t dare cross your lips.
The sound of it alone
will incinerate you from within.
The devil I am!
Flames scorch the bridges to my past.
All lies in ruin,
decimated by the sheer will of my legacy.
Unafraid of loneliness,
welcoming the task.
Watch me.
Hate me.
Wish me well.
