Saying Goodbye Without Breaking Apart {poetry}
Your heart is now my home.
I live there, tucked inside.
Quiet. Hidden. Holy.
There dormant, I will lie.
The pieces of my being,
I gave of free accord.
I placed them for safe keeping,
They’ll stay for evermore.
You’ll carry me inside you;
gestation of a sort.
And when the growth is peaking
you’ll learn mutual support.
The building could take eons;
perhaps already has.
Filaments for a framework
of shared dreams, ideas and plans.
It’s not only that I love you;
my love’s no simple game.
It’s that I hold your home, too.
Regardless of your name.
Your home is in my heart;
kept safe by silent strength.
I’ll hold your gifts within me;
til time forgets its length.
Your home is wide; expansive,
with room enough to breathe.
My heart’s an open fortress;
a place for calm reprieve.
If you should return;
rebuilding will ensue.
A castle needs foundation
and ours is built on two.
We’ve moats to forge across;
tall doors to open wide.
Beneath the glow of wisdom;
we do it side by side.
Even.
Now.
Distance will not harm us;
benefit, it will bring.
Close your eyes.
I’m with you.
You can hear me sing.
I feel your beat expanding;
strange within my chest.
From truth one can not hide;
and love decides the rest.
