Write And Be The Star Of Your Own Story.

She couldn’t hold back one more minute.

She couldn’t refrain, maintain, sustain, remain insane for one more minute. She burst forward from the dust and became her own star. Why did it occur this way?

It happened the way it had to, without thinking or reasoning, a plunge, a step, a remembrance of all the particles that existed somewhere but were hers and hers alone.

The dust that those around her tried to brush off her, she embraced, she breathed it in, it was her and it was amazing. What does it mean to be your own star? It means that you are in charge, sweetheart; this is not a movie in which you stand by or witness. This is it, this is you.

You are the star of this show, baby. You need to make yourself known. Who wrote the script? Throw it out. Write it, write it day by day. Be a heroine, save the world. In fact, you must. There is no turning back now.

Your star is shining and people are following and you have no choice but to make this the best goddamn script ever.

You have a young lover? Me too. Does his touch make you unbelievably alive? Do you travel to places that others think are off limits? Me too. Do you lie on beaches that no one has been to? Do you stay there until you recognize all the other stars that light up the celestial sphere?

Do you let go in any way you please — of the people, the things, the places that have told you No? I have. Did you return with a resounding Yes, a roar, a statement, a position, a forgiveness; an acceptance? Me too.

Does your movie have every scene you have imagined in it? If not, why not? Why not begin with the first line: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Or how about something more original? Curtains open, there she was.

Who she had always been, she had always been revered, loved, adored and criticized. She, who was unnamed, except in all the trashy magazines that wanted to know her story. But this time it’s different.

Curtains open, and she directs every action, every movement, and every honest exchange that led her back to the star she only knew as her.

Have you decided about the supporting cast? Really decided? I think the supporting cast needs to be chosen carefully. Who will be there when the antagonist of your story is winning? Who has your back?

Have you considered who would move you forward in the story? Who helps you in your light, and who doesn’t try to shadow but has as much glory in your success as you do? When you decide that the story will end, what is it the story that has shown the world, what your light has given?

Who has basked in the delights with you, and who has shown you the harder truths of any story, so that it is truly your character, that has grown, flourished and become?

This is your movie, baby, your script, written line by line. This is your gig, this is everything you have ever wanted. Shine, baby, shine. Start writing, there is no turning back now.
