Crafting Beauty During Virgo Season.
What wellness goals do I want to achieve? How can I organize my life to be more efficient? How can being of service play a bigger role in my life?
These are some stellar reflections that may inform our minds during Virgo Season, when the Sun is in this discerning, refining, and detail-oriented sign. This year Virgo Season occurs from August 23 to September 23.
During this month, our focus gets very specific as we look to see how we can make improvements in our life. Rather than viewing this from a larger on-high perspective, we hone in on details, revering the piece parts, seeing them not only for their own beauty but also for their instrumental role as components of the greater whole.
Yet, as we revel in the details, it’s important to not lose sight of the bigger picture, not lose the forest for the trees, as the axiom goes.
It’s a delicate balance, yet one that feels important to attend to; if not, we could find that having our nose to the grindstone leads to missing out on larger themes, and the meaning that often only emerges in broad-stroked perspectives.
Virgo Season affords us a time to not only take stock of our health but to also discover a commitment of determination to attend to it. Figuring out how to attain a greater sense of well-being becomes somewhat of a puzzle, the solving of which becomes a motivating factor in crafting a self-care system that will help us attain our goals.
This time offers us a wonderful opportunity to re-engage in an exercise regimen, kick-start some healthy eating habits, analyze the ways that our mind and bodies are interrelated, and find new ways to pursue our spiritual path.
With an enhanced desire for refinement and evidencing beauty that emerges from working with things of the earth and those that are in physical form, this time inspires us to pursue crafts projects, DIY undertakings, and the sculpting of organization systems that can make our lives more efficient.
Yet, Virgo energy often has people looking towards the ideal and that things — or people, including themselves — should measure up to quite high standards; and when the outcome doesn’t align with the vision, disappointment may ensure. Not only that, but it can breed a well of criticality, whether of oneself or others.
A mindset that’s helpful during this time? Remember that perfection doesn’t exist; so don’t strive for it, but instead focus on the act of perfecting as it can channel the Virgoan need-for-refinement orientation without setting you up for excessive worry and/or self-castigation.
The Full and New Moon during Virgo Season can help us to further tap into the opportunities for evolving that abound.
Occurring on August 29, the Full Moon features the Moon in the sensitive sign of Pisces. We are able to at once connect to our body and our intuition. We can use our critical mind to understand how different physical and emotional factors may be weaving together to paint our current picture of health.
Once this conscious awareness emerges, we can then sit quietly, turning inward to gain further reflective insights on how we can best support our well-being.
The New Moon on the September 12 is also a solar eclipse, a celestial event that may accord with the emergence of significant life path-shifting events or reflections.
Since the Sun and Moon are in Virgo, these may have to do with a fresh start in the realms of ways in which we can be of service to others, wellness regimens, crafts projects, and/or creating methodical systems that better organize an arena of our lives.
While solar eclipses often correlate with the initiation of new chapters, it’s oftentimes not clear until months later just what will be born out of the seeds planted around this time.
Looking for some extra support and encouragement as you harvest possibilities through Virgo Season? Here are three flower essences* that align with the sign of the times.
Pine: With strong Virgo energy in the field, we may find that we are holding ourselves to exceptionally high standards. While this could be motivating, it may also have us taking responsibility when it is not ours, which can yield a bounty of guilt as well as self-reproach.
Pine flower essence helps to release the critical feelings that we have towards ourselves, inspiring greater self-compassion and releasing judgment.
Rock water: We could find ourselves seeking the experience of purity on some level during Virgo season; this may come through attempts at dieting, cleaning, or a focus on refinement of our behavior. Yet, sometimes an over-focus on asceticism and/or rituals can deplete spontaneity, leaving us rigid, inflexible, and depleted of joy.
Rock water essence supports our ability to be aligned with ideals while also maintaining a sense of flexibility and fluidity in their pursuit.
Centaury: We’re called into service during Virgo season, wanting to help others, assisting them in having their lives be better. Yet, a pull towards servitude sometimes can throw us off balance and drain our energy if we find ourselves taking care of others’ tasks and feelings at the expense of our own priorities.
Centaury flower essences supports the creation of boundaries, and the belief that sometimes saying No is as healing for others — let alone ourselves — as saying “yes.”
