Calling Out The Queen: I Await Your Awakening.
Woman, you have been fading into the shadows for too long. Where is your fight, your light, your ferocity?
The marrow of your very being slips from your fingers. Your breath barely leaves an imprint on the cold air. You forfeit your voice, just to be seen as nice.
In the dead of night, you get up to feed on the most dangerous lies. The ones that hiss: you’re not that special.
You have wasted hours cowering, just to be half-liked. You have strained to hold your breath to not be a bother. Your shoulders ache from playing small. Your stomach begs to exhale.
I understand why you have held back, trying to twist and pinch your body into a box. Why you have acted confused when you really knew. Why you have apologized for speaking the truth.
As a child, you learned little girls shouldn’t take up space. They should be pretty and polite, but not shake things up.
Leave this earth tidy, unchanged, and just how you found it, they said. Hide your intuition, your strengths, and all your glory. Then, maybe, just maybe, you’ll be invited out.
Maybe then you will be included in a conversation with some unreachable woman you deem worthy of your adoration.
You confuse the coldness, the blankness, the awkward silences from this impenetrable woman, as power. It has made you want to work harder, instead of turning you inward toward your holy strength.
You have wasted hours toiling away at some job, relationship, some crisis, in order to win over that Icy Princess, who was not meant for you to begin with.
I tell you now: gone are the days when you live for acceptance from some other woman who calls herself a Queen, as she cuts others down and locks herself up in a tower.
No longer look to her for permission to shine. The permission will never come.
Step into your power, sister. Your fire needs your breath: a smoke signal to show the world you are not giving up just yet. That you’re still alive. That there’s hope for us.
I can see the kindling inside your soul. I see it begging for you to release it, a wildfire that the world yearns for, for warmth, for safety, for a torch out of the dark.
The moment you stop throwing water on and extinguishing your own light, you will find the greatest peace you’ve ever known.
And this is where you will also find your throne.
I insist: take your seat right across from me. No, do not kneel at my feet, because then I will kneel down, grab your hands and pull you back up.
I am not accepting the excuses: “But please, I’m not all that wonderful. No, I don’t deserve this. What will they all think of me?”
Turn away from those who tell you that you need to be kneeling at someone else’s feet, or that your throne is miles away from everyone else’s.
Your throne is right here.
You are as much of a Queen as any other. Own your birthright, so this world can too. Only then will this earth have a chance at survival.
I cannot wait to watch how the volcanoes erupt, the earth quakes, how the mountains roar, the minute you decide that you’re not going to take it anymore.
I await your awakening.
