Bohemian Horoscopes: April 2016.
Bohemian of the month: Julie Christie
Actress and social activist Julie Christie was born on April 14, 1941 with Sun, Mercury, Venus and Midheaven all in Aries. Bohemian individuals always have Uranus and/or Aquarius feature strongly in their horoscopes, and she has Mars in rebellious Aquarius, plus Uranus square her Moon.
She was the It Girl of London in the swinging 1960s. Beautiful and bohemian, she made a name for herself playing strong, independent women in movies like Billy Liar and the original Far from the Madding Crowd.
She’s also had an unconventional private life — she had a turbulent open relationship with Warren Beatty, lived in a commune in Ireland for many years, and didn’t get married until she was in her 60s.
She turns 75 on April 14, and combines acting with being an active supporter of animal rights, environmental groups and the anti-nuclear movement. She has a very Aries/Aquarius take on relationships: “Men don’t want any responsibility, and neither do I.”
Horoscopes for April
Aries (March 21-April 20)
Prepare for a slightly schizophrenic month! From April 1-16, it’s all-systems-go, as your boss planet Mars charges through fellow fire sign Sagittarius, and you’re in a hurry to do just about everything, especially if it involves sport, travel, adventure or speed.
The tempo then shifts to a snail’s pace from April 17 onwards, when Mars ricochets back into retrograde mode, until June 29. So smart Rams will use this time to review, revise and recalibrate, as you lose your manic momentum, but are instead given the chance to reconnect with the gentle lamb within. Don’t waste the opportunity.
Taurus (April 21-May 21)
April 6-16 is a terrific time to initiate entrepreneurial ventures and sell up a storm, as Mercury, planet of commerce, visits your sign and Venus, your ruling planet, moves through Aries. But then things slow down considerably, especially in the bedroom.
Bulls are a sensual bunch, and your lusty libido usually burns on a steady flame. However, from April 17-June 29, sexual satisfaction will be in short supply as sex planet Mars reverses through your intimacy zone. So you’ll need to revise your erotic expectations and enjoy some alternative passions, pastimes and hobbies.
Gemini (May 22-June 21)
The first five days of April suit your spontaneous style, as Mercury, your patron planet, charges through Aries. Time to think on your feet and make snappy decisions with lightning speed. April 7 is the day to draw up your wish-list for the next 12 months, as the New Moon activates your aspirations zone.
So don’t waste the opportunity to set intentions and go for gold in the goal department. You can’t hit a target if you haven’t got one! From April 17 onwards, you may feel as if an important relationship is stalled, or going backwards, when Mars reverses through your partnership zone.
Cancer (June 22-July 23)
Don’t hide away all safe and cozy in your Crab cave! The New Moon on April 7 is a fabulous time to reboot your professional attitude, initiate work ideas, kick career goals or look for a new job, as you show others what you are really capable of…
… whereas the Full Moon on April 22 is a more intense time, when unresolved issues with a loved one rise to the surface and demand to be addressed. Jealousy, possessiveness or power games could also be cause for concern.
Whatever happens, try to step back and view the situation from a less personal and more spiritual perspective.
Leo (July 24-Aug 23)
Fabulous foreign shores beckon this month, as the New Moon on April 7 activates your adventure zone. If you can’t escape on an exotic trip, then make sure you go traveling in your mind via books, movies, music, delicious daydreams, and making contact with your favorite international friends.
Then the Full Moon stirs up family frustrations around April 22, when an unresolved issue from the past is resurrected and rehashed. With reserved Saturn and retrograde Mars visiting your theatrical zone, it’s time for Leo Drama Queens to simmer down and show some welcome restraint!
Virgo (Aug 24-Sep 23)
Best day of the month is April 14, when Jupiter boosts your brain power and lifts your spirits to unusually high levels.
Make the most of it, because Mars then reverses through your domestic zone, from April 17-June 29, which is a good enough reason to postpone all family functions, DIY projects and home renovations until after June 29.
If you do decide to go ahead, thinking that your Virgo predilection for perfection is enough, then expect disruptions, delays and disasters at every turn! Especially from April 28-30, when your ruling planet Mercury is also in retrograde mode.
Libra (Sep 24-Oct 23)
Love and loot are on your mind! The New Moon on April 7, and the Venus/Uranus hook-up on April 22, revitalize your relationship zone. So it’s the perfect month to road-test a new lover, revive a flagging affair, reboot a rickety marriage — or finally summon the courage to walk out of the door.
The Full Moon — also on April 22 — then brings up issues involving finances, values and/or self-esteem. You’ll find the less you base your core self-worth on money, status, image, physical appearance and unrealistic media expectations of what beauty is, the healthier, happier and calmer you’ll be.
Scorpio (Oct 24-Nov 22)
Scorpio is a sign of extremes. You pursue something — or someone — with passionate purpose and dogged determination, or you’re just not interested at all. This month you need to take a good long look at your daily diet and fitness levels, as the New Moon inspires you to eat healthy food, and exercise like a pro.
So get ready to commit to kale smoothies, chia puddings and Zumba classes with the missionary zeal of a true Scorpion. You certainly need to be at your best — physically, emotionally and spiritually — when the Full Moon lights up your sign on April 22, and the intensity dial is turned up to high.
Sagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 21)
Sagittarians prefer to live and love as spontaneously as possible. And you’ll enjoy doing your own thing in your own way for the first 16 days of April. But then spontaneous activity will be replaced by frustrated inertia, when Mars, planet of energy and action, reverses through your sign from April 17-June 29.
So expect some plans to backfire, while others are put on the back-burner. Smart Sadges will use the time to slow your motor and cool your heels, as you redo half-baked projects that you previously hurtled through with hasty abandon. Remember: good things come to those who wait!
Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 20)
Many Capricorns are incredibly career-driven, as you ascend the professional ladder or earn your entrepreneurial stripes in your chosen field. But is it worth it if you gain the world and lose your soul?
With Mars reversing through your spiritual zone from April 17-June 29, it’s time to reconnect with your inner voice as you digest more slowly, perceive more wisely, and dream more often.
Draw inspiration from feminist writer — and birthday great — Gloria Steinem, “Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
Aquarius (Jan 21-Feb 19)
2016 is definitely the year to celebrate your strengths and work on your weaknesses, as you strive to follow your dreams and become the avant-garde and adventurous soul you were born to be. As fellow Aquarian Oprah Winfrey says, “The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.”
There is one proviso though! Saturn is currently sauntering through your hopes-and-wishes zone, where it’s joined by retrograde Mars from April 17-June 29. So your dreams will take a while to manifest as the Universe tests your patience, persistence and determination to stay the course.
Pisces (Feb 20-March 20)
Pisceans are the masters of procrastination. But of course you don’t call it that. You prefer phrases like taking my time and leaving my options open.
Well, with Mars, planet of motivation and speed, reversing through your career zone from April 17-June 29, you’ll be using every excuse in the book as you find it difficult to shake off the shilly-shallying blues. So it’s definitely not a good time to launch a big new biz project or apply for the promotion of the century.
Better to direct your energy towards creative, spiritual or humanitarian pursuits that don’t involve short and stressful deadlines.
