Your Hands. {poetry}
You grabbed my hand,
my hand touched yours,
our hands touched,
I felt something,
life came through,
I felt moments,
I was alive,
I felt life,
fingers traced skin,
moments lived on,
the void was filled,
there was no more space,
time stood still,
my heart skipped a beat, maybe raced a little,
my head on your shoulder,
I felt supported,
hand locked in yours,
I could stay here forever,
please don’t go,
keep holding my hand,
keep holding me,
hold my space,
kiss my face,
remind me I am here,
don’t leave, stay,
touch my hand,
feel its pulse,
I am safe,
I am home,
hug me tight,
kiss me softly,
tuck me in,
put your arms around me,
tell me I am your crazy,
reach for me,
pull me in,
let me hold your hand,
I may squeeze it tight,
I am scared,
hold me close,
let me know you,
let me hold your hand,
it is simple,
a simple beauty,
a simple place,
quiet spots,
my hand in yours,
sitting, seeking, watching,
wasting time together,
spending time together,
hand in hand,
soft voices,
I know your touch,
silent faces,
I know your smell,
your hold takes me to a million places,
I felt my cheek,
I feel your touch,
I know it,
it takes me there,
to stars,
to warmth,
to mornings drenched in sunlight and coffee,
to time and spaces filled with you,
let me hold your hand,
let me walk with you,
let me cry,
keep me safe,
I am yours to hold,
my hand is yours,
when I can’t stand,
when I can’t smile,
you are there,
holding out your hand,
pulling me in,
hugging me completely,
kissing me sweetly,
I hold your face,
I hold our space,
don’t let me go to lonely places,
grab my hand so I don’t get lost,
walking in the dark,
walking with you,
I feel free,
I found my smile,
you held the door for me,
it was brave,
it was fierce,
reaching out your hand,
to me,
for me,
in quick moments,
in grieving moments,
in sad, black, tired, unforgiving moments, you held out your hand, and like a life support, offered it to me,
I was different,
things were different,
you saw me,
you saw the true me, and still offered yourself,
your hand,
and with an ever changing vulnerability I took it quickly,
held it tight, close,
I kept your hand close,
we left the house,
we left the neighborhood,
the town,
in yellow cars,
on empty streets laced with rules,
until we stopped,
my hand still in yours,
the day is ours,
the night is ours,
try to stay awake.

Rachel Hardman is someone who seeks the parts of life that make her feel the most. She absolutely loves nature (especially the desert), sacred moments, leaning in and being a part of something that gives back. To her, life is all about the things that make you crazy excited, continually smile, get up in the morning, feel alive, and especially want to live it! She loves the word ‘magic’ because, to her, it encompasses anything and everything. Anything is magical and can be, because with magic anything is possible. If allowed, magic will consume and claim your curiosity. It will take you from a confined space to one that is unlimited and excitingly mysterious.
