The Familiar Place Few Will Dare to Venture.

When déjà vu is our constant companion, and everything comes to us in electric waves, it is a sure sign of straddling the twilight zone.

With one foot in reality, the other in familiar/unfamiliar layers of the Cosmic WTF, we linger in the sensation. This is the feeling of knowing/not knowing, and a place we have been a thousand times. This is the chill that seems routine, yet foreign and cold. This is the oddness of familiarity.

We hear the calls inside our head, the haunting voices, the pulls of the unordinary, trying to take us into unexpected realms, and we ignore it. Those calls are too Woo Woo, too out there, too much, and being labeled as the weirdo sometimes keeps us quiet. Yet we also may feel that deeply embedded in our edges is the crystalline longing for the mystic and a solid explanation.

We ask: Why do we know these places, these people, and circumstances? How is it possible?

I think these are the equivalent questions to (and also encompass) “What is our purpose?” The major question of a normal life-game everyone encounters at some point, and unfortunately, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, but the following things may be relatable.

* History repeats itself: If certain types of people, places and things keep appearing in our daily living, and it sucks, there is a good chance we have not addressed some karmic revelation that needs attention. Perhaps assessing the toxicity and why it is allowed into our life will shed some light on a dark spot that could use some love. Love it up.

“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.” ~ Pema Chodron

* Dreams: They take us to the multi-dimensional subconscious. Good, bad and completely whacked. There is a lot of information in our dreams. And all the places that we intimately know but have never been? They are layers of a time come-and-gone and/or a place we know well in a parallel universe.

Often, the dreams are not showing us an idyllic situation, but we are truly being guided to a deeper understanding of our inner beliefs. Even when the beliefs stay just below the surface, they feel like a well-loved friend.

* Religious or non-religious: Our convictions are the foundation of the way we view the world, and if they are disrupted, challenged and/or belittled, they can feel so very foreign. Sometimes this is a cause for pause. The push to understand how the heart rolls in and out of what we can actualize puts a strain on what we value. This may change as we mature in our universal growth, or it may stunt it (it is a choice).

But when faced with adversity, if we can dig into our memories of the womb, and feel the nurturing of many lifetimes, we can tether to some sanity in an insane world.

* Logic vs. illogical: We can make something into nothing, and everything can have meaning or none at all. This is my favorite part of our humanness. Science will say one thing, religion will say another, and the cosmos? Oh, they sit back and laugh with us while two people, of like minds, witness the same thing, at the same moment, and they hold experiences that are completely and utterly different. And the point is?

There isn’t one. No point at all. It is all in our ego/mind, and many go through life arguing the self-righteous victories that mean zero, nada, nothing. Is it logical or illogical? Who knows? But in the end, it really doesn’t matter.

We might find some solace to know we are not alone, and when we feel particularly weird and out of our mind, the answer to our oddity is simply this: The real comfort lies in a place we are familiar with, but few will to dare to venture, and that adventure is being okay in our skin. So, we are not only out there, but we can revel in life and all the universal eccentrics. When we grasp this, everyday living is a playground.

Will we be misunderstood and misinterpreted? Of course, but all that judgment is from a vibration we have already surpassed. Most of us have been through the portal more than once, and we can avow Enough, already. We can rise into our weirdness we shine.

Yet I think, (I hope) as generations evolve into themselves (as opposed to being restricted to so-called normality of life) they will look at us with respectful gratitude for allowing our inner freak to light up the path. Soon the strangeness we exude will be recognized as simple awe for the little things, and gracious acceptance will be the new black the norm, for a multi-layered view of race, creed, color and gender. And the odd ones? They will be nothing but a thing of the familiar past.

She realized at a very young age that the outer reality was a far cry from her inner truth, and meeting her inner wisdom head on always turned into a challenge. The wonderment, curiosity and hypocrisy of life led to exploration and a cumulative documentation (art and journaling) of what she lovingly calls ‘the purge’. It is her way of ridding any negative energy from the daily grind.
