Moments with Her. {poetry}
Her energy felt heavy.
Not like a soft blanket on a cold evening,
But a weight that sat unmoving upon my lungs
Her blocks felt impenetrable
There were many days spent trying
To break through her limitations
Evenings feeling suffocated by her stubbornness
And moments where I felt like I couldn’t catch a break
She did not seem to want me there anymore
And so I left
Her face was angelic
Not fragile like a porcelain doll
But perfectly proportioned — an undefined beauty
Her voice felt like music to my soul
There were days spent laughing
And playing together in the grass
Evenings feeling her little hand on my heart
And moments where the love I felt for her reduced me to tears
She knows love in ways that I do not
And so she teaches me much
Her openness was inspiring
Not like it was much different from my own
But similar in that she wanted harmony as well
Her courage to try was appreciated
There were days spent getting to know each other
And playing with our daughters
Evenings feeling the expansiveness of family
And moments where all I could mutter to the universe was “Thank You.”
She knows the importance of family
And so we learn as we go
Her beauty was abundant
And not in an idyllic way, though that was certainly there
But she called to me in a way that cannot be described
Her energy felt like home
There were days spent discovering her
And learning all of the parts that make her so magical
Evenings spent looking up at a blanket of stars
And moments where I doubted my ability to love her properly
But she knows my soul
And so she invites me in
Reflections of her
Reflections of me
She is all of the parts of who I am.
She is heavy at times, and she is stubborn
She has blocks to work through, and she is rejecting
But she is also free and full of the most magical love.
She hears me in the depths of my dreams
And reaches out to me in the midst of night.
She understands family, and she seeks to bring harmony.
She knows gratitude, and she soothes my fears
My love is her love reflected back to me
My fears are her fears reflected back to me
My light is her light reflected back to me
My calling is her calling reflected back to me
She keeps me moving forward when I no longer wish to continue
She keeps me tethered to the Earth when I wish to be free
She keeps me pushing toward new heights when I wish to stop
She sees me
She knows me
She is me
And so she invites me in
Because she knows my soul
And we learn as we go
Because she knows the importance of family
And she teaches me much
Because she knows love in ways that I do not
And I know I’ll heal her
As she heals me
Because I am her.

She began her journey of awakening a few years ago, and though there are times she longs to go ‘back to sleep’, she knows she has work to do.
