I propose that at these times of fear, rage and disbelief, hold on to the memory of the many who helped you be here today fighting for freedom, liberty and justice.
You know betrayal and lies, you know defeat and shame
You know pain and sorrow, you know very well how it feels
When you aren’t loved... so your doors are closed to love
Kindness and compassion ran to our arms.
When we thought before we did not deserve the journey,
An inner voice kindly whispered,
“Go! Run and grab the opportunity to start over
and forgive yourself again.”
As a therapist, I understand we play old patterns in our lives, but it is not on purpose, and we need to be careful when we discuss such situations placing too much responsibility on the victimized person rather than the ones who perpetrated the abuse.
